Rochelle Garfield is a highly experienced Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) with more than two decades of practice in the field. Throughout her career, she has served a diverse range of clients, spanning from 15 months old to adulthood, and has worked in both public school and private clinic settings. Her extensive background includes a decade-long tenure with the Houston Independent School District (HISD). During her time at HISD, Rochelle developed a specialized screening protocol for dyslexia that was tailored specifically for SLPs to use. This protocol was designed to be used with students ranging from four years old through high school. Rochelle successfully integrated this screening protocol into HISD’s language evaluation process, increasing the identification and support for students with dyslexia. Rochelle has presented her dyslexia screening protocol, along with other dyslexia data and dyslexia awareness training at numerous Speech/Language conventions across the nation.
Rochelle has a passion and love for helping individuals of all ages improve their communication skills. Her expertise encompasses a wide array of areas, including receptive and expressive communication skills, social communication skills, academic language skills, articulation skills, fluency, as well as reading and written language skills. She has a unique ability to use creative techniques to create an environment where learning is both effective and fun.
Outside of being an SLP, Rochelle is a published novelist (check out her novel- “Out of the Shadow”), a photographer, a parenting coach, and an avid inline skater. Rochelle lives in Houston with her husband and six children.
